Last year my younger sister Lucy got married to her childhood sweetheart - needless to say it was one of the best days of all our lives. What made it even more special is she asked Recognised to be a part of her day - from bride to bridesmaids we worked with Lucy to create the perfect collection of jewellery which reflected her style, taste and most importantly values.

Read on for the details:

“I wanted my bridesmaids to feel their best selves on the day. I had a lot of bridesmaids, each with very different personalities and styles. It was important to me they could each express this on the day.”

Lucy picked the Solidarity Popon for both her look and her bridesmaids. The Solidarity Popon is a symbol of friendship and the ongoing need for solidarity in our world today. 100% of profits are donated to support the fight against racial injustice and the Ukraine. Getting married during the same year that Ukraine was invaded, it was important to Lucy to wear a symbol of solidarity for this on her big day.

To keep it feeling bridal, we picked the smooth pebble and paired it with the bobble chain for a contemporary look. For the bridesmaids we chose a variety of textures for the pebbles and paired them each with different Recognised chains.

“I wanted my bridesmaids to feel their best selves on the day. I had a lot of bridesmaids, each with very different personalities and styles. It was important to me they could each express this on the day. Giving them a selection to choose from created a really special and fun moment on the morning of the wedding. It also took the pressure off me choosing each bridesmaid's look”.

Along with many other Recognised brides, Lucy chose the Freedom Pearl with Signature Popon Bangle in gold to wear on her wedding day. The bridesmaids followed suit and again had a selection of pearls to choose from. For her flower girl, Lucy matched her Freedom Pearl and paired it with a delicate fine chain, perfect for younger members of the wedding party.

To keep uniformity for the day, we narrowed the metal colors to silver and gold which allowed bridesmaids to wear what felt best for them.

“Wearing Recognised on my wedding day was so special. Each piece of jewellery carries so much meaning making it such a special gift for bridesmaids and extra special to wear. Weddings are expensive and being able to give back and make a difference as part of our day was really amazing. The simple design created a really modern bridal look and everyone including me has continued to wear our jewellery everyday since”.

TOP TIPS FOR PICKING YOUR WEDDING JEWELLERY

  1. Keep the main thing the main thing. Pick one piece of jewellery to be the same across your bridal jewellery and allow for variation with everything else. Choose the same pendant or the same jewellery base (earrings, necklace, bangle) for you and your bridesmaids. This keeps a sense of uniformity and you can then create a more bespoke look by allowing for variation in final styles.

  2. Mix your metals. Your bridesmaids skin color will mean they each suit different metal colors. By keeping one thing the same, it allows for variation and ensures everyone feels themselves on the day.

  3. Pick adjustable chains. Adjustable chains are perfect for creating layered looks and the perfect choice for gifting to ensure they fit everyone.

  4. Pick something you will wear again. Just like China dinner sets have gone out of fashion, wedding jewellery to be worn once and thrown away is neither fun nor sustainable. Pick jewellery you’ll wear again and treasure forever.

  5. Make it personal. Wedding jewellery is so personal, choose pieces that carry meaning for you. Recognised Statement Popons® are a great place to start.
