As Father’s Day approaches, it’s good to acknowledge this as a day of celebration for all the great father’s we know, but also a day that will be really tough for a lot of people for all sorts of reasons. It’s great to remember that people will experience celebrations differently, and to remember that recognition and celebration can look a little different.
So here is our guide to who needs recognition this fathers day and how you can give it.
ALL FATHER FIGURES
To the awesome dads all over the world, we celebrate you! If you have a Father or father figure in your life who you love and appreciate, you could write them a meaningful card with an encouraging message, or get them a meaningful gift to show them your love and appreciation. You could even give BBQ’ing a go to give them a break… if they’ll let you. It doesn’t have to be a big gesture to go a long way.
people who don’t have fathers
For people who don’t have fathers, this day could be a hard one. If you know someone who has lost their dad or never knew their dad, a text to say “thinking of you today” could go a long way. Or even sending them a card, or giving them a phone call to go that extra mile. Standing in solidarity with others in their loss and grief is such a powerful way to be a friend.
However you’re spending the day on Father’s day - we hope you enjoy the sunshine. To the dads out there - have a great one and put your feet up!
